Notice from the Growth, Highways & Infrastructure Team at Suffolk County Council :
Suffolk County Council is currently seeking your views on improvements along the A140, specifically at the A140/A1120 Earl Stonham junction, A140/B1078 Needham Road junction and the A140 Thornham Magna junction.
The A140 has been identified as a route of strategic importance for Suffolk County Council, providing links to urban centres in East Anglia. However, the road has significant traffic capacity pinch points and some associated road safety issues that require attention. It is expected that congestion will be significantly worse along the A140 in the future, due to projected traffic growth.
With these challenges in mind, Suffolk County Council are developing these options, to form a bid for additional funding from the Department of Transport. If successful we will progress with a select number of schemes through a detailed assessment process, including further engagement with local residents, businesses, and key stakeholders.
We are seeking your views on the key issues identified by the project to this point, we would also welcome additional input from your local knowledge. See below link for more information and online survey:
The survey closes on the 15th of October 2023, at which point we will review the information and it will be used to inform our submission to the Department of Transport.
