The Community Centre Committee held their AGM on 16 July. Due to the current CV19 situation this was held at a social distance out doors and fortunately the weather was kind. Rosemary Ingate and Annie Harvey stepped down as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively after many years service. The committee thank them both so much for their attention to the Community Centre. Rosemary has put a great deal of time and effort into ensuring that our legal framework as a charity is in order and Annie has ensured that procedures have been correctly followed plus giving us the benefit of her banking experience. Both of their commitment has put us in excellent order to go forward. The remaining trustees have agreed to stay on the committee for the coming year and for this year we will be operating a rotating chairperson role at each meeting in order to give the chance to those that wish it to chair a meeting. The committee are currently looking at the Covid guidance for the safe opening of the Community Centre but no decisions have been made as of going to press.
Opening of Worlingworth Playground
All present were able to enjoy a sumptuous and varied free picnic, with tea, coffee or squash and the bar was open for those who felt in need of something a little stronger.
In addition to organising the refreshments, ably supported by her select team, Carly had assembled a magnificent table of raffle prizes for the children who were each given a raffle ticket and enjoyed choosing their prize as their number was called.
Carly, supported by Rosemary Ingate (Chair of the CC) was persistent and insistent in her pursuit of all possible available grants from both inside and outside Mid-Suffolk Council. Several local charities supported the cause also, as far as they were able.
This new facility for the whole village (it's true, several adults were noticed sizzling down the zip wire) is one which will be enjoyed for many years to come and one in which we should all take great pride. Congratulations and sincere thanks to all involved.
The community centre has started a book, CD and DVD borrowing service at Worlingworth Community centre. A small charge will be made for borrowing with profits shared between the centre and St Elizabeth Hospice.. At the moment, we are asking anyone with unwanted books, CDs or DVDs to donate them to enable us to start this new venture (no cassettes or tapes). Please bring any items you have available to Eugene O'Sullivan, Rose Cottage, Swan Road or telephone us at 01728 628684 and we will collect them.
