The Rector, Rev'd David Burrell, and all the members of our Parochial Church Council wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year.
We also thank everyone who helps to keep our church open and running for the benefit of not only the church congregation but for all the parish of Worlingworth.
There are many who do things to help but do not court publicity for their actions. They just do jobs quietly and unobtrusively. We thank them all.
This was a really lovely service, greatly enhanced by th seven children who participated by lighting candles and distributing posies to all the members of the congregation. Many thanks to them and their parents who brought them along.
Annual Parochial Church meeting.
This took place at the beginning of April and is the meeting when Churchwardens and church council members are elected for the coming year. We were sorry to hear from Keith Wilson that he wished to retire as Churchwarden, a post he has held for some years. We would like to express our gratitude for the way he has served St. Mary's and will continue to do so as he remains on the Church Council.
Thank you to Ann Davidson who will take over from Keith as Churchwarden from the middle of May.
On the 19th January a good band of willing helpers held a coffee morning to empty the 40+ boxes we have around the village. Michael Izzard from EACH helped to bag up the money and bank it. A total of £1476.72 was counted— an increase of approx £200.00. Thanks to all those good friends who came to help with the counting and serving the coffee . Jill Westrup
Appeal for helpers to keep St Mary's clean.
To keep St. Mary's as fresh as we can the cleaning is done every two weeks, but we only have a team of five people. If anyone else would be prepared to help us we shall be most grateful .Our volunteers at the moment are John Ridgwell, Beryl Dyer, Shirley Rutterford, Val Swallow, with Christine Stanford and Nora Ingate. If you feel you are able to help, you can contact any of us and we willbe happy to show you what is involved.
Led by Rev. David Burrell and in bright sunshine, St. Mary's held a rogation service. Fields, meadows and gardens were blessed with appropriate readings by members of the congregation. On our way back to the church a short act of remembrance for V.E. Day took place at the War Memorial.
It was a really enjoyable service, which finished back in the church.
Thanks to Bert for planning it.
Do you wish to have someone visit you in your home on a regular basis, if so and you would like to discuss your requirements in confidence, please contact a church warden or Lay elder telephone numbers in newsletter.
