Opening of Worlingworth Playground

After a fantastic effort by many folk, but especially Carly Holland, the wonderful new children's playground was finally opened by Mr Fred Uff. He spoke warmly and sincerely of his pride on seeing the playground finally built and ready for use after a 15 year gestation period! Many of the original instigators were present to appreciate the variety of 'rides' and the utter excitement and joy of the children as they rushed to be the first 'to have a go!'
All present were able to enjoy a sumptuous and varied free picnic, with tea, coffee or squash and the bar was open for those who felt in need of something a little stronger.
In addition to organising the refreshments, ably supported by her select team, Carly had assembled a magnificent table of raffle prizes for the children who were each given a raffle ticket and  enjoyed choosing their prize as their number was called.
Carly, supported by Rosemary Ingate (Chair of the CC) was persistent and insistent in her pursuit of all possible available grants from both inside and outside Mid-Suffolk Council. Several local charities supported the cause also, as far as they were able.
This new facility for the whole village (it's true, several adults were noticed sizzling down the zip wire) is one which will be enjoyed for many years to come and one in which we should all take great pride. Congratulations and sincere thanks to all involved.
Maggie Graystone.
