Tree Planting in Worlingworth Parish
Following our report in the December 2015 newsletter several sites have now been identified for tree planting, but there's still room for more! If you feel you have a suitable planting site (it can be just one small tree or a whole woodland!) then please let either John Ridgwell (Worlingworth's Tree Warden) or the Parish Clerk know.
Previous treen planting.
What a truly lovely village Worlingworth is - we are all very lucky to live here.
When I invited donations towards the cost of the tree planting I knew that we were bound to receive something. However, Rita and I were quite resigned to having to bear a proportion of the cost ourselves. The need for more trees is something which we both feel very passionate about, and we just wanted to get on and do something positive.
I was thrilled, therefore, when by the evening of March 13th. we had received a total of £450 - well in excess of the cost of £405. Whereas I had offered a refund should donations exceed the cost, everyone preferred to leave the balance in a tree fund to help towards the cost of further planting this coming winter. So we started with a fund of £45.
Now that the new playground is installed there are likely to be several opportunities for further tree planting. This I contnue to discuss with the Community Centre committee. I am also investigating other possibilities elsewhere in the village - at this rate we shall be living in a veritable forest !
In the meantime, our very warm thanks to everyone who has been so supportive. John Ridgwell
