My connection with Suffolk goes back to my childhood, where we came regularly for holidays and to my father’s family house. Later, my husband Steve and I had a caravan at Southwold where we spent every available weekend and holiday, and we both knew that eventually we wanted to live in the county.

After 35 years as a family solicitor we finally made the move in 2018 to Worlingworth.  My husband has links with the sea having a Cornish heritage and I with the countryside, my father’s family having farmed Essex in one way or another for some 3 generations before him. I became a locum but when work effectively ended due to covid I found I needed to do something useful to fill my time.  I was subsequently asked to join the PCC, and become a Foundation Governor of our C of E school, and when the opportunity came to join the Parish Council, and hopefully to engage further with village, I jumped at the opportunity.

I am keen to preserve the village way of life, but ensuring that there is sufficient infrastructure to give residents a life from which they will be reluctant to move.  I would like to see a real push to regain a village shop, and café where people or small groups can meet and I would like to see  Worlingworth return to its “Most Active Village” title, making activities and the opportunity to pursue them inclusive of all villagers whatever their ages and interests.
